She sounded the entire time like she was trying to keep a secret or not be overheard. As for the narrator, she often spoke sotto voce, even when not called for by the story, making it hard to hear without earphones. Some of them were openly disparaged even afterward, and then written off as "it's the job" or "it was just sex" and "I didn't really care about her/him." It just felt icky given the way they set them up. The victims were given virtually no consideration whatsoever. Casual sexual harassment and sexism by several characters was tolerated by all of them. There was no heart, despite the story's own claim that there was. twice, based on lots of "speculation." It was just silly. Not to mention how ridiculously easy it was to solve the mystery. They accept and go along with law enforcement agents announcing their plain intention to simply murder the suspect on sight and therefore don't care about things like evidence being admissible in court. The repeatedly ignore protocol even after pointing it out. Everyone ignores the conflicts, and resulting poor judgment, that put everyone in danger.

Everyone, including superiors, ignore the fact that a senior agent is openly cohabiting with and in a sexual relationship with a subordinate, who, apparently, is in the job solely so they can be together at all times. ** Mild spoilers There was nothing realistic about it. I am guessing they are mostly from people who are just happy to see any lesbian love story in the mainstream, no matter how mediocre because the crime thriller part of it was pretty ridiculous. I got it because it is rare to see so many five star ratings and virtually nothing else.
